The Reason Global Business Networking Matters So Much to Me Personally

Most people think global business networking is mainly about expanding reach, finding clients in more places, or building a bigger contact list.

For me, it has always meant something much more personal.

  • Yes, business matters.
  • Yes, visibility matters.
  • Yes, opportunities matter.

But the real reason global business networking matters so much to me personally is that it sits at the meeting point of something I care deeply about: people, trust, understanding, visibility, and the chance to build business relationships that go beyond business & borders.

That is why I created Global Business Networking LIVE Online. Not simply to help people meet more contacts, but to create a way for professionals to be seen, understood, and connected globally in a more human and strategic way.

1. Why this became personal for me
Ever since I left my country of birth and established my life in Australia, it became important to me to get to know and understand the people around me.

Australia gave me a real appreciation for what is possible when different cultures, perspectives, and ways of doing business come together. I found that deeply rewarding, not only professionally, but personally as well.

New in a new country and learning the intricacies of local words and phrases in a language other than my originally learned one was one thing and the other one, specifically found in Australia, is the multicultural mix of many others working on the same thing: to better learn the language!

That’s where communication is so important, and when what you say can’t be trusted because you’re still learning the language, it’s doubly important HOW you say it!

And that’s one big aspect I’ve included with my Global Business Networking LIVE Online.

I make sure participants get the opportunity to create their introduction before they come and participate.

As well, the introduction is only one part of getting to know a person and so I’ve included guided discussions where everyone gets the opportunity to further share their expertise and message.

That’s particularly important when the business owners experience English as their second language, like me and so my early connections broadened my understanding of people and helped shape the direction I’ve always taken in business.

That is part of why the words in Global Business Networking LIVE Online matter so much to me.

  • Global means bringing together countries and cultures.
  • Business means this is purposeful and professional.
  • Networking means connection, collaboration, and client opportunities built through relationships.
  • LIVE matters because people get to see each other in real time and begin to feel trust.
  • Online matters because it allows those conversations to happen across the world.

For me, this is not branding language for the sake of it.

It reflects how I genuinely see the value of networking when it is done well.

2. The frustration that changed my thinking

I did not come to this understanding through theory.

I came to it through frustration.

When I bought my first business, a diamond jewellery store on the Gold Coast, I did what many business owners do. I invested in advertising. I spent around $14,000, made just five sales, and was left with around $55,000 worth of unsold stock. It was incredibly disappointing, especially because I had done what I believed I was supposed to do.

Then I received an invitation to attend a Chamber of Commerce meeting.

That one invitation changed everything.

People came into my shop. They brought friends. They bought jewellery. They referred others.

Not because they had seen another advertisement.

But because they had met me.

  • They liked me.
  • They trusted me.

And they understood how I spoke about my work.

That experience stayed with me because something similar made an impression on me early on in my new country.

People from all different parts of the world and cultures were open to listen to me and make friends and the exchange of backgrounds was exciting for everyone I met.

And it’s a part I’ve taken into networking because it showed me that meeting people on its own is not enough.

What matters is the way we interact that creates trust.

That was one of the earliest lessons that shaped how I think about networking to this day.

Another business stepping stone around networking for me was my involvement with one of the largest networking organisations from the time I started my marketing agency.

Due to regular international travels, I was able to visit networking chapters in places like Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Switzerland and many more, each time forging new connections and gaining clients.

3. What I came to understand about networking

Over time, networking helped me build every one of my businesses. It also led me into leadership roles, international networking experiences, and also into helping start and grow networking groups. Through that experience, I learned something else important.

Good networking is not just about putting people in a room together.

  • It is about how they are brought together.
  • It is about whether trust can grow.
  • It is about whether people genuinely want to be there.
  • It is about whether they are committed, credible, and open to understanding each other.

I also saw the limitations of traditional models.

Some groups create discipline and consistency, which is valuable. But they are often limited by geography, by rigid structure, or by a stronger focus on transactional outcomes than on real understanding.

Other online environments create energy, but without enough guidance, people leave without knowing how to turn introductions into outcomes.

That is where my own direction became clearer.

  • I wanted to bring people together in a way that valued relationship, trust, credibility, understanding, and genuine willingness to connect.
  • I wanted a networking experience where people from different parts of the world could happily meet, share, learn from one another, and do business in a way that felt more human.

4. How that shaped what I created

That is what led to the Networking Boardroom and the wider system behind it.

I did not want to create just another meeting.

I wanted to create a space where real people introduce themselves LIVE in real time, where guided discussions give a deeper insight into each person’s expertise, and where trust can begin before anyone is ever expected to make a buying decision.

That is also why the Boardroom is only one part of the bigger picture.

The wider model is a repeatable visibility system. It is built so that networking does not sit on its own as a random activity.

Instead, it becomes part of a strategic approach to visibility, introductions, positioning, collaboration, and client attraction.

At the centre of that are three key ideas:

Impact Introductions

So that when someone hears you speak, they understand who you help and why it matters. And these introductions go further and help you share your overall business message and positioning.

Visibility Through Others

So that your visibility grows beyond what you could create alone by building collaborative opportunities two or more can support each other’s expertise and visibility.

Networking as a Strategy

So that conversations can move naturally into collaborations, opportunities and clients.

This is important to me because I do not believe networking should feel shallow, rushed, or forced.

  • I believe it should help people be seen for the value they offer.
  • I believe it should help people communicate clearly.
  • I believe it should help people build trust before they need to sell.

And I believe it should help committed people from different backgrounds and countries find ways to work together.

I remember a time I visited a 55-member networking chapter in Hong Kong and the person who’d invited me, personally introduced me to almost everyone directly and allowed me, as a visitor, to share where I had come from and why.

This resulted in my marketing agency gaining my first 3 international clients on the spot!

5. So, the point is this

The reason global business networking matters so much to me personally is not only because it helps create business growth.

It matters because it brings together so many things I care about.

  • Human connection.
  • Cultural understanding.
  • Professional visibility.
  • Trust.
  • Collaboration.
  • Opportunity.

In a fast-moving world, where people can feel disconnected, cautious, and overwhelmed, I believe there is real value in creating places where people can meet meaningfully, understand each other better, and build business relationships that begin with conversation rather than pressure.

That is why this work matters to me.

And that is why, if you have ever felt that traditional networking did not quite reflect the kind of business relationships you want to build, there is a reason.

  • You may not be looking for more noise.
  • You may be looking for more trust.
  • You may not be looking for a room full of quick pitches.
  • You may be looking for a place where you can be seen, understood, and remembered.
  • You may not be looking for networking as an obligation.
  • You may be looking for networking as a strategic and human way to grow.

If that feels familiar, that is exactly why I invite you to connect with me and explore Global Business Networking LIVE Online.

Because for the right people, this is not just another event.

It is a place to step into visible, guided, global conversation.

It is a place to strengthen trust through introductions and discussion.

And it is a place where conversations can begin to turn into collaborations, opportunities and clients.
