Do you struggle to stand out when you introduce yourself in networking groups?
Do you struggle to stand out when you introduce yourself in networking groups?
Most people rush through their 45 or 60 seconds networking introduction trying to cram in everything they do.
The result?
They sound just like everyone else, and the people listening barely remember them once the next introduction rolls around.
Here’s the real problem: people don’t remember facts, they remember how you made them think and feel.
And the fastest way to do that is through a question.
When you start your networking introduction with a question, something powerful happens.
Our brains are wired to answer questions — whether out loud or silently in our heads.
If the question resonates, you instantly have their attention.
That means the right people, the one’s you want to reach, listen more closely to everything you say next.
For example, when I introduce myself in my Global Business Networking Online group, I might begin with:
“Is networking globally right for you?”
This question triggers everyone to ask themselves that question, specially if they are not sure if networking globally is right for them.
They want to hear the answer and that makes them stay alert listening to more of what I have to say.
The same applies to you: if ask, “Do you need a fresh banner for your LinkedIn profile?”, for example, or “Do you feel like you have a ‘weight’ on your shoulders and you just want to have it lifted?”
Instantly, people listening answer in their minds — and the ones who say “yes” are already leaning in.
So, here’s the takeaway:
- Start your introduction with a question.
- Make it relevant to the outcomes your audience wants.
- Leave them with a lasting impression because you spoke to them, not at them.
That’s how you STAND OUT with your networking introduction, no matter how many people there are in the room, you’ll grab the attention.
And this is just ONE of the networking tips and insights I share with my Global Business Networking Online Members to support them, make meaningful connections, create trusted collaborations and gain new clients.
